# Best Outer Record Sleeves for Vinyl (2026) Source: https://turntablenest.com/best/outer-record-sleeves Updated: 2026-09-22 Publisher: Turntable Nest. Our score is an editorial rating out of 10 (fit 35%, features 25%, build 20%, value 20%), not a customer rating. Method: https://turntablenest.com/how-we-research#our-score Outer record sleeves protect the album jacket itself, shielding cover art from ring wear, dust, scuffs, and shelf friction that gradually devalue a collection. The key choices are material and thickness, with options ranging from thin, crystal-clear polypropylene to heavier, more protective polyethylene, and whether the sleeve has a resealable flap. Fit matters too, since single LPs, thicker gatefolds, and boxed sets all need different sizes to slide in without bending the jacket. This guide suits collectors who value the artwork and long-term condition of their records, as well as anyone whose shelves see a lot of handling. It is a small investment that keeps covers looking sharp and helps preserve resale value. If you only care about playback and not the jackets, you can skip these. Choose a sleeve thickness that balances clarity and protection, and match the size to the kinds of releases you own, from standard LPs to bulky gatefolds. ## Picks ### 1.
